About this app

Ebola Radar Shows Danger at the Current Location. Protects and Provides Security.

The serum means information!

With the EBOLA app, the IT and media specialist BlueBox wants to contribute to curb the spread of the Ebola epidemic. The problem of the long incubation period of the insidious disease encounters mobile application by storing and permanent comparison of geocoordinates and tracking data. In the case of reported infections, contacts of the infected are warned afterwards about potential hazards. In addition, a permanently updated map with the locations of infected people of the past few days, daily information about particularly endangered regions, special clinics that can be reached in an emergency, details on the illness itself and in the worst case also requests to go into quarantine. The app is currently available for download as a beta version in the Google Play Store. Interested parties can find more information at http://www.ebola-radar.de/ and http://www.ebola-app.de/

Using the example of Ebola epidemic, it becomes clear that protection and prevention against health risks of this extent can only be possible through globally networked information. Ebola is so aggressive because the host - man - is completely unknown to this virus. It spreads unsystematized throughout the body. And is highly contagious. So far, doctors have no chance to intervene; The immune system is overwhelmed within a very short time. Only the possibility of prophylaxis remains to stay away from herds of crisis. However, these are difficult to locate, because the problem of Ebola disease is the long incubation period. That means: The time of the infection is far ahead of the first symptoms. With the Ebola app, BlueBox is now presenting a prevention of digital kind. By collecting and comparing geo- and tracking data, it is intended to help contain the spread of virus disease. "In a figurative sense, society is vaccinated by informative communication technology," said Birger Wunderlich, GF of the Bluebox media agency. "The serum means information".

The app basic settings determine whether the location may be determined so that the users can be warned at a possible threat to the current location and so-called push notifications can be sent. The next menu item refers to tracking and saving your own locations, which can make a signaling if you had contact with one person that has been tested positively. Of course, this also applies to the reverse path. If the user of the app is ill, this way, potentially affected people can be informed about the risk level. On the start screen of the Ebola app there are, among other things, the Heatmap, which shows infected locations and regions, and four buttons with the functions "warns", "protects", "help" and "SOS", which carry out corresponding warnings and requests, provide information on disease symptoms and trigger other supporting actions. The current reports on the general and regional topic appear under »News«.

In the near future, the app of all kinds that will be reported should display, such as terrorist threats, chemical accidents, earthquakes, tsunami, or mass carambolages in fog and much more. From the comprehensive distribution that is necessary for the functionality, performance and high availability of the app, including the IT structure to be created, the establishment of a call center and the time-consuming editorial activity, there is an immense investment requirement. Accordingly, BlueBox is also looking for support from sponsors, companies, health institutions and also the federal government. A donation button can also be found in the Ebola app.
