Gorontalo itself is a province in Indonesia. Previously, the Gorontalo Peninsula (Hulontalo) was the Gorontalo Regency and Gorontalo Madya City in North Sulawesi. Along with the emergence of regional expansion regarding regional autonomy in the reform era, the province was then formed based on Law Number 38 of 2000, dated December 22, 2000 and became the 32nd province in Indonesia. The capital of Gorontalo Province is the city of Gorontalo (often also called the city of Hulontalo) which is famous for the nickname "City of Serambi Madinah".
Gorontalo Province is located on the island of northern Sulawesi or in the western part of North Sulawesi Province. The area of this province is 12,435.00 km² with a population of 1,097,990 people, with a population density level of 88 people/km². [2] Gorontalo Province is inhabited by ethnic variety in the form of pohala'a (family), including pohala'a gorontalo (ethnic Hulontalo), pohala'a suwawa (ethnic suwawa/tuwawa), pohala'a limboto (ethnic limutu), pohala'a bolango (ethnic bulang All of them are categorized into the Gorontalo or Hulontalo tribe. It is suspected, the spread of the Gorontalo diaspora has reached 5 times the total population now spread throughout the world
