The Whereabouts App has been developed for Dutch top athletes who have to provide Whereabouts information to the Doping Authority. With the help of this app, athletes can easily check the specified Whereabouts information and transmit changes in it easily and quickly. The data is processed directly in the doping authority database. With the help of the GPS functionality of the phone, a new whereabout can easily be created. Various warning messages have been incorporated in the app, to prevent athletes from unknowingly making a Whereabouts error. The app is also protected with a pin code, so that only the athlete can view and change his/her data.
The app was developed by the Doping Authority in collaboration with Logica BV, InnoSportNL and NOC*NSF.
NB. The app only uses the GPS functionality for selecting a location for a Wereabout (based on the current position), which is then sent to the doping authority by the athlete himself. The app does not automatically pass GPS data about the current location of the athlete in relation to the specified Whereabouts to the Doping Authority!
